Profile of the Mac Plus.

I, for one, am glad it’s gone. I never had one on the Apple II+ or Mac Plus I grew up on, so I’ve always felt that Open Apple symbol was for wusses. Do you think maybe that’s why the Apple III didn’t sell so well?

There’s an animation I caught on TV once about Easter many years ago (circa 1992). It was called “A Claymation Easter” and was about a pig who kidnaps the Easter Bunny days before “the big event” in an attempt to take his place (you know, the version that got turned down for the Bible). Yes, yes, it’s an old story. One in which many Santa Claus fans are well versed. It’s a stop-motion animation, and was pretty good for it’s time. And it’s pretty dern funny. It also introduced me to the song “Low Rider” (I led a very sheltered life) and Engelbert Humperdinck’s “Release Me.” I’d even wager that there’s probably a line from this programme that I still quote nowadays without even remembering its source.

Another stop-motion animation I remember seeing around the same time was Terry Pratchett’s “Truckers,” which was my first introduction to all things Pratchett-esque, and eventually led me to my love of his Discworld series.
I’ve found a new toy to occupy my time… facebook.com. I joined back in Nov, 2006, when they opened their doors to the public. I heard a lot of MySpace people were migrating to Facebook, and I wanted to see what the big deal was. Well, not a whole lot was going on at the time.
But only just a week or two ago, friend requests started trickling in from old school chums I hadn’t seen in 10 – 15 years! Now I’ve got several dozen people on there that I’ve either gone to school with or worked with, and it’s starting to feel like it’s building to a critical mass. Give it a try!
As I write this, faceborg.com is still untaken for those with a sense of humour.
