Just pretend it’s a month ago
There’s an animation I caught on TV once about Easter many years ago (circa 1992). It was called “A Claymation Easter” and was about a pig who kidnaps the Easter Bunny days before “the big event” in an attempt to take his place (you know, the version that got turned down for the Bible). Yes, yes, it’s an old story. One in which many Santa Claus fans are well versed. It’s a stop-motion animation, and was pretty good for it’s time. And it’s pretty dern funny. It also introduced me to the song “Low Rider” (I led a very sheltered life) and Engelbert Humperdinck’s “Release Me.” I’d even wager that there’s probably a line from this programme that I still quote nowadays without even remembering its source.

Another stop-motion animation I remember seeing around the same time was Terry Pratchett’s “Truckers,” which was my first introduction to all things Pratchett-esque, and eventually led me to my love of his Discworld series.

Alas, poor Jack. I hardly knew ye.
A friend just told me Jack Valenti died. The only thing I knew about him was his stint as an animated character in a short-lived television series. So without further ado, I honour his memory the only way I know how… with YouTube.
