I went and bought the 32″ Sharp Aquos. I currently have no way to get HD content on it. The closest I can get right now is 480p from the DVD and PS2. I’m going to try and get an HD cable box very soon. All in all, I’m quite pleased with it. I bought the extended warranty which I did not plan on doing, but before warranty and taxes it was $1506 which was the highest I wanted to go.

Any idea what this is asking?
My current TV, a 27″ JVC, has served me well for about 10 years, but is starting to give me signs that it won’t be around much longer. The first such sign was a few years back when it plain old wouldn’t turn on. Luckily, I had bought the extended warranty (it was a display model), so it was up and running again after a couple of days at the shop. However, now a discoloured blob will start to appear on the lower right side of the screen if left on for long periods of time. I leave the TV on, even if I’m not watching it, just to have some noise in the room.
I’m of course looking at getting something HDTV-compatibile, but is also not much more than $1500 CAD, is flat, and about 32″ in size. I’m strongly considering the 32″ Sharp Aquos LC32DA5U LCD TV. I know it’s not the latest and greatest, but it fits my requirements. I thought about going with something better for the long term (e.g. a 32″ Sony Bravia XBR LCD TV), but I can’t justify paying a lot for a technology that I think will be advancing fairly soon.
Anyone have any suggestions of something I may have overlooked?
Capital One has an ad where people are walking around with a black-suited guy’s hand in their pocket. Rick Mercer has a spoof. Both tunes are rather catchy.
Reminds me of a joke my cousin and brother came up with during the 2004 Summer Olympics, after seeing the Romania teams getting gold medals in the rowing events (I don’t remember it exactly; something along the lines of “Row-Mania”).
