Metal Gear Awesome (by Egoraptor)

Flash Animation on deviantART. Spoof of Metal Gear Solid.

You don’t need to have played the game to find it funny, but it sure helps.

BTMicro on its way

Filed under: General — Bob Maguire @ 6:32 pm

Macally BTMicroI stopped using the Apple Bluetooth Wireless Mouse that came with my G5 around the time I got back into World of Warcraft. I already passed my Logitech MX700 on to another family member, so I couldn’t possibly ask for that back. I’m not sure I would want it back. It’s a great mouse, but it’s too big and heavy. Plus, I’ve got bluetooth built-in, so I want to make use of that. I’ve been using my much older Logitech USB Optical Mouse, which is starting to have fits with sudden drag-movements. It’ll be nice to get rid of the cord again, too.

Hence the Macally BTMicro. It’s got the wireless convenience of bluetooth, the charger like the MX700 has (so battery hassles), and a smaller, lighter form-factor that should suit me (it’s a notebook mouse, but I’ll be using it as my main desktop mouse). I’ll try to do a review after it arrives.

Update: I’ve posted my review.

Movie Review: Stay Alive

Filed under: General — Bob Maguire @ 5:31 pm
Stay Alive

Freddy Krueger meets The Ring meets Hackers.

I wouldn’t call this movie DVD-worthy, and likewise I probably won’t ever watch it again, but I do feel you need to see it at least once, in the same fashion that Hackers needed to be watched at least once. If you like survival horror video games, you need to watch this movie to cringe at the use of all the survival horror video game references and conversations that real gamers don’t actually use or have (like watching actors in Hackers read lines about processor speeds).

It’s a clever premise and they mostly pull it off. It gets much better near the end when they start to use the game against itself.
